What the Onsite / Superday tests

Some older reports mention live poker; most sources describe poker as part of SIG's training culture rather than the interview.

QuantVault maps 46 practice problems to this round. By topic, the biggest groups are probability (18), expectation (8), combinatorics (7), game theory (5); by difficulty, 2 easy, 37 medium and 7 hard. 17 of them were reported by candidates who interviewed at SIG, most recently in Jan 2026.

How to prepare for the Onsite / Superday

  • Open-ended estimation wants assumptions and a range: state your model and give an interval, not a single number.
  • If a poker-style game comes up, play it for expected value. Show bet-sizing discipline and explain each decision; most recent reports describe AKQ-style EV games rather than a live poker table.
  • Pace yourself across a long day: eat the dinner, stay composed and keep narrating your reasoning.
