Most quant firms run short programs for students: a few days of classes, trading games and time with traders and engineers. Most are aimed at first and second years. Applications often close months before the program runs, so start with the deadlines.

Frequently asked questions
What is a quant spring week?
A spring week is a short program, usually a few days in the spring at a UK or European office, where first and second year students attend talks, meet traders and play trading games. Optiver, Point72, G-Research and Maven all run one for 2027, with most deadlines between November and February.
When do Jane Street INSIGHT applications close?
For 2027 there are three sessions: New York (January 4 to 9, apply by October 25, 2026), Hong Kong (January 3 to 10, apply by November 8, 2026) and London (April 5 to 10, apply by January 3, 2027). Jane Street covers travel and housing.
Who can apply to SIG Discovery?
SIG's 2026-27 Discovery programs in the US have a quantitative trading track and a trading system engineer track, both closing November 16, 2026. SIG also runs a Dublin Discovery Programme, a PhD Discovery Summit and Discovery programs in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Do I need finance experience for these programs?
Usually not. Jane Street, for example, says INSIGHT needs no prior knowledge of finance. Firms look for strong maths, coding or problem solving and teach the trading ideas during the program.
